Kollynn Hendry

Ballet and Jazz Instructor

Kollynn Hendry grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She started dancing at American Dance Company at age 7, then began attending Kathy Marfin’s Dance School at age 10, where she studied ballet, jazz, modern, tap, and tumbling. Kollynn joined the Kathy Marfin’s competition team, the Leading Edge Dance Company, the next year. She earned various awards for solos, including several 1st place overalls, judge’s choice awards, 2nd Runner Up Teen Dance America (2013), Dancer of the Year Finalist (2014), Best of the Streetz (2014), Senior Dancer of the Year Finalist (2014), and scholarships to several dance competitions and conventions. She was awarded Outstanding Ballet Student (2010) and Outstanding Jazz Student (2012) from Kathy Marfin’s. Kollynn attended the Summer Intensive Program at Ballet Austin in 2013. She performed the role of Captain Hook in Kathy Marfin’s 2014 production of Peter Pan.

In high school, Kollynn performed with her high school’s contemporary A Cappella group, Madison Avenue, where she won an award for Outstanding Choreography in 2017. She also performed in her high school’s musical productions, such as The Music Man, Once Upon A Mattress, and Sister Act. 

Kollynn moved to Nacogdoches in 2017 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor is secondary education at SFA. After graduating in 2021, Kollynn immediately began working on her master’s degree in history with a concentration in public history. 

Kollynn started attending Gobel School of Dance in the Fall of 2022. She performed as The Nanny in the GSD’s 2023 production of Sleeping Beauty. Kollynn is so excited to be teaching with GDS this summer!
